Join Kay for an exploration of nighttime creatures who call Swan Lake home

Adaptations and key features of owls, bats and other night loving creatures will be explored on a short walk. Learn how you can identify signs of these nocturnal neighbours, and see real example specimens up close and personal. You never know ‘whooo’ you’re going to see!

This program takes part both indoors and outdoors.  Please meet at the Nature House for the start of the program.

The Nature House will be open from 7:30 PM for participants, and for half-an-hour after the program's end for further exploration.  Our Gift Shop will also be open!

This event is intended for adults (people ages 16+), a family version of this program is hosted starting at 6:30 PM.

About your facilitator: Kay L.

Kay is a passionate science communicator who has worked with invertebrates, whales, turtles and dinosaurs (living and in fossil form) since 2016. Having the opportunity to get outside and explore nature with budding scientists is one of her favourite ways to feel connected to both her communities and local ecosystems.

Kay has a penchant for flipping over rocks and picking up the misunderstood creatures to inspire curiosity rather than fear, and can be found working in science education with all ages through Build-A-Brain

Please dress appropriately for this outdoor activity (layers are recommended), including footwear well-suited for trail walking.  

Some steps and sloped gravel trails will be part of the path for this event.

Only certified service dogs (or service dogs in training) are permitted at the Nature Sanctuary, including the Nature House. Per Bylaw #7462, all other domestic animals are prohibited on site.
