Invert Week - Let's Talk About Bees!
Description
This presentation is part of Invertebrate Week at Swan Lake!
Each day, guest speakers and educators will join us to deliver programs on fascinating invertebrate topics - learn more and see the full event schedule here [URL embedded]. Pre-registration is highly recommended as space is limited.
Join the Swan Lake beekeeper for a conversation about the curious lives of social and solitary bees. Let’s talk about some familiar bee species in our region - their varied life cycles, how do they pollinate plants, and other curious qualities! There will be some hands-on items to explore, and the Swan Lake honeybee demonstration hive will be there too.
Facilitator Bio: Alanna Morbin
Alanna is a local beekeeper and holds so much amazing knowledge about our small pollinating friends. Alanna takes care of the bees in the observation beehive in the Swan Lake Nature House, which allows visitors to see what it looks like inside a live beehive, and to see bees at work! The Nature House bees help to pollinate the Native Plant Garden and the rest of the Nature Sanctuary.
