1-2pm: Earthworms w/ Compost Education Centre

03/20/2025 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM PT

Description

Learn all about earthworms and how they do their thing! Get the chance to hold live worms, sift through some worm compost, and learn how to work with worms at home to recycle wastes and build healthy soil. Pre-registration is highly recommended as space is limited. This program is part of our Invertebrate Week presentation series; see the full presentation schedule and learn more about the event here.

Facilitator Bio:

Jeffrey Ellom is the Child & Youth Education Coordinator at the Compost Education Centre. One of his favourite hobbies is taking care of worm composting bins - of course he is super into worms, but there are often so many different invertebrates in a worm bin. A favourite of his are the tiny pseudoscorpions, who are harmless to people and get around by hitching rides on other invertebrates like beetles.
