Greenspace for All: Winter Bird Walk (11:00-11:30)
Description
Join us at the Swan Lake Nature House to learn about winter birds!
Support for this program is provided by the Stewardship Centre for BC, Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, and the Gorge Waterway Action Society.
A local bird expert will guide you on a walk or roll through the Nature Sanctuary, identifying native bird species and sharing their knowledge along the way.
Participants are also welcome to visit the Classroom at the Nature House for a fun arts and crafts activity!
Warm beverages and light snacks including gluten free options will be provided in the Nature House.
To join the bird walk, please meet at the entrance to the Nature House, located at 3873 Swan Lake Road.
Accessibility information:
The bird walk will take place outdoors along a gravel and low-incline/flat/wheelchair-accessible path. The arts and crafts activities will take place indoors in the Classroom at the Nature House.
The Nature House is accessed from the main parking lot through an approximate 3 minute walk along a gravel path which is wheelchair accessible. There are two designated accessible parking spaces closer to the front door of the Nature House at the end of Swan Lake Road. Inside the Nature House, there are two All Gender universal-design washrooms and a water bottle-filling station. This event will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. We have 10 pairs of binoculars available to be shared and we welcome participants to bring their own if available.
To make this event as accessible as possible, please let us know if you require any special accommodations to participate. Registration is not required but is greatly appreciated to assist with planning.
