Migratory Birds at the Sanctuary: Featuring Winter Ducks
Description
This free, all ages event is being held alongside VHMBS to celebrate the fall migration and migratory winter birds returning for the season. The event will include a presentation on winter ducks that visit Swan Lake, a walk and talk about birds on site led by an Educator, and oppurtunites to explore bird collision abatement treatments in the Nature House and other Bird Friendly City resources. The Nature House will be open to the public on this day between 11am - 1pm. Participation is by drop-in - no registration required.
Schedule of events:
11:00-11:30: Nature House open to public – explore bird collision abatement treatments in the Nature House and other Bird Friendly City resources (online and in person)
11:30-12:00: Learn about Winter Ducks (Nature House classroom)
12:00-12:30: Nature House open for exploration to public
12:30-1:00: Join the Educator for a walk and talk about birds on site, or maybe see some buffleheads!
Where: The Nature House, Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary - 3873 Swan Lake Rd.
Accessibility: The parking lot is a 3 min walk to the Nature House. There are some slightly unlevel surfaces. In the Nature House, there are two all gender accessible washrooms and a water fountain.
